This piece started by inviting the artists I was working alongside to join me in mark-making on the blank canvas by signing their names in marker on the canvas. One by one each person joined in the collective experience and we laughed and talked about how fun it is to create and try new things.
I next added layers of glazes and used various tools to create textures and apply paint.

Have you been in a storm when you were feeling overwhelmed and then realized your words have power and you told that storm to Be Still. So much of our circumstances are out of our control - but our responses to them? That’s where we find and declare our power.

This piece represents how I feel when walking in the woods! I challenged myself by beginning with this image/memory/feeling and kept returning to it as I created. This is outside of how I typically work, so the challenge brought growth!
I love being among the trees - and I especially love being alone as my mind wanders or I take in the sensations around me. I hope this piece invites you to join the Daydream.
